Note System

/post/note-system/ A short post about how quick capture, planning, and long-term notes fit together.

Note System

I do not use one tool for every kind of note. Different kinds of information move at different speeds, so I keep them in different places.

The split

  • 手机备忘录: quick notes for anything I need to capture immediately.
  • Flomo: a running board for plans, what I did, and what happened in the world.
  • Obsidian: the long-term knowledge base for notes, structure, and review.

Why split them

If everything goes into one system, the inbox gets noisy very quickly. Temporary thoughts, daily updates, and durable knowledge all compete for attention even though they are not equally valuable in the long run.

Using separate tools keeps each one simple:

  • capture should be fast
  • review should be lightweight
  • long-term notes should be organized enough to revisit later

A simple flow

When I notice something worth keeping, I first write it down in the fastest place available. Later, if it becomes part of a plan or a daily log, it moves into Flomo. If it grows into something reusable, I rewrite it into Obsidian as a more durable note.

The goal is not perfect note management. The goal is to reduce friction at capture time and increase clarity at review time.
